The rides will also include transportation to and from their destination, as well as rides for their second and final dose.

The offer is to help get veterans, healthcare workers, seniors, and other people in need to and from COVID-19 vaccination sites, who might not have access to transportation.

MyRIDI said they are looking forward to partnering with organizations dedicated to serving the communities.

MyRIDI’s efforts come after Lyft announced it will offer over 60 million free or discounted rides to people looking to receive the COVID-19 vaccination.

“Making sure people can get to vaccination sites when they need to, is mission critical to defeating this virus,” MyRIDI President, Roger Hickman Jr. said in a statement. “This is an opportunity to use our collective strength to mobilize on a massive scale and serve our communities. We cannot let lack of transportation be a factor in deciding whether people have access to healthcare.”

The ride-hailing company said the program will include free or discounted rides for people going to and from a vaccination appointment, along with trips for their second doses. It was not immediately clear when the free or discounted rides would begin.
