First-degree murder charges have been filed against two Illinois paramedics. An autopsy says a man they treated died from “asphyxia due to prone facedown restraint” on the paramedics’ stretcher.

After the paramedic made the man walk to the ambulance, he was placed face down on the gurney. He later died at the hospital. According to the coroner, the cause of death was “asphyxia due to prone facedown restraint on a paramedic transportation by tightened straps across the back and lower body.
